Privacy Policy

AIQ (“we”, “us”) is an educational app that teaches AI literacy to children aged 7–14, with a parent/guardian oversight layer. Protecting children’s privacy is central to how AIQ is built. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It aligns with COPPA (US), the India DPDP Act, and the Australian Privacy Act.

Parental consent

A parent or guardian creates the account and sets up each child profile behind a PIN. Children cannot create accounts or change settings themselves. By creating an account, the parent/guardian consents to the limited data practices below on behalf of their child.

What we collect

• Parent account: email address and a hashed password. A device timezone (e.g. “Australia/Sydney”) captured automatically from device settings (no GPS or location permission) so daily streaks roll over at your local midnight.
• Child profile: first name and age (7–14) that the parent enters, and a numeric PIN (stored hashed).
• Learning data: lesson progress, quiz results, XP/gems/streaks/badges.
• Analytics: product-improvement events keyed to a hashed child identifier — we do not store raw child identifiers in analytics, and we do not use child data for advertising or build advertising profiles.

What we do NOT do

• No third-party advertising or ad targeting on children.
• No selling or renting of personal information.
• No third-party analytics/advertising SDKs in the child experience.
• No request for device location, camera, microphone, or contacts.

How we use data

To provide and personalise the learning experience, keep progress and streaks, maintain the parent dashboard and weekly summary, keep the service secure, and improve the product using pseudonymised (hashed) analytics.

Data sharing

We share data only with infrastructure providers that host the service on our behalf (cloud hosting, database) under confidentiality obligations, and where required by law. We do not share children’s personal information for any other purpose.

Parent rights & controls

• Access / review: see your child’s progress in the parent dashboard.
• Delete: delete a child profile, or delete the entire account and all associated data, at any time from You → Account → Delete account in the app. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Data retention

We keep data only while the account is active. When you delete a child profile or the account, we remove the associated personal data (parent record, child profiles, and learning progress). Pseudonymised analytics contain no raw identifiers.

Security

Passwords and PINs are stored hashed. Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).

Changes

We will post any changes here and update the “Last updated” date.
